Beauty Basics - Röda läppar
Inget smink är väl så klassiskt som ett par snygga röda läppar. Att få till dom är däremot en annan femma. Rätt nyans, rätt teknik och rätt produkter hjälper dig långt på vägen. Så här gör jag!
På bilden ovan kan ni se de produkter jag använder för att få till ett par snygga, väldefinerade och hållbara röda läppar. Jag brukar börja med en läpprimer (#1 på bilden, MAC prep + prime lip) när det kommer till lite starkare läppfärger, eftersom den hjälper till att återfukta läpparna, jämna ut läppstrukturen och hålla läppstiftet på plats längre.
Efter primern fortsätter jag att grunda på hela läppen med en läppenna (#2 på bilden, MAC cherry lip pencil). En läppenna ser till att läppstiftet inte "blöder" utanför läppkanten, och dessutom hjälper den till avsevärt med att hålla färgen på plats längre.
En läppensel (#3 på bilden, MAC #316) underlättar något enormt när det kommer till att applicera mitt röda läppstift (#4 på bilden, MAC Red lipstick), då man verkligen jobbar in läppfärgen med penseln och appliceringen blir mer precis.
Både matta och glossiga röda läppar är döläckert, beroende på vad jag känner för så toppar jag mitt röda läppstift med ett läppglans (#5 på bilden, MAC Cult of cherry lipglass) eller så behåller jag det glosslöst.
Appliceringsteknik
Själva appliceringstekniken är ganska viktig då det kommer till ett par snygga röda läppar som sitter på plats under dagen. Det här är den teknik jag tycker funkar bäst för mig!
Här ser ni mina nakna läppar, plus läpprimer applicerat direkt ur stiftet. Dom ser lite läskiga ut för jag har rödvinsfläckar på dom efter igår kväll, men det behöver ni inte bry er om ;)
Sedan fortsätter jag med att applicera läppennan cherry från MAC över hela läpparna som bas. Vissa gillar att börja med att fylla i längs läpplinjen, jag gillar att börja från mitten bättre för då är det lättare att få till en snygg läpplinje när man väl har arbetat sig ut dit.
Efter läppennan applicerar jag mitt röda läppstift med en läppensel. Här har jag valt ett stift som går i princip ton i ton med pennan (MAC Red), men det är egentligen inte så kinkigt med vilken penna du använder under så länge den är någolunda lik stiftet du ska lägga över. Det här stiftet är inte helt matt utan är lite glansigt i strukturen, och en sådan formula kan vara att föredra om du har problem med väldigt torra läppar eftersom det återfuktar läpparna lite mer än ett helt matt stift.
För att definiera läppkonturen ännu mer lägger jag lite puder precis utanför läpplinjen med en platt, snedskuren borste. Har du råkat kladda lite utanför med läppstift eller penna och det har lämnat ett rött märke när du har torkat bort det fungerar pudret lite som ett "sudd" för att korrigera små misstag.
För en glossig look avslutar jag med ett rött läppglans (MAC Cult of cherry), men detta är inget måste, jag känner lika ofta för glossiga läppar som för matta. Värt att tänka på är att ett glans hjälper till att hålla läpparna återfuktade om du lätt blir torr!
Tips och tricks
- Sugen på röda läppar, men vågar inte riktigt smacka på med så mycket färg? Testa ett rött läppglans, ett lip stain eller ett rött läppstift med mer skir formula (t.ex. lustre-formulan från MAC).
- Rött finns i många olika nyanser, från ljust till mörkt, från kallt till varmt. Jag tycker att de flesta passar i nästan alla nyanser, men är du kall i hyn passar du oftast bäst i kalla röda färger som drar mot blått, och är du varm i hyn passar du oftast bäst i varma röda nyanser som drar mot gult eller orange.
- Klassiskt röda läppar är dösnyggt att para med en enkel, svart eyelinervinge, men det är jättefint till ett par ordentligt sotade ögon med. Det är inte fel att vräka på med mycket på ögonen bara för att man har en stark färg på läpparna!
- Tycker du det känns trist att lägga ut massa pengar på läppennor i olika färger för alla dina läppstift? Investera i en transparent som fungerar med alla färger.
In the first picture of this entry, you can see the products I use to achieve a pair of beautiful, well defined and long lasting red lips. I usually start out with applying a lip primer (#1 in the picture, MAC prep + prime lip) when it comes to darker and more intense lip colours, since it helps with moisturizing the lips, even out the lip structure and keep the lipstick in place for a longer time.
After the primer, I apply a base consisting of lip pencil over the entire lips (#2 in the picture, MAC cherry lip pencil). A lip pencil will make sure that the lipstick won't bleed outside the lip line, plus it helps a lot with making the colour last for a long time.
A lip brush (#3 in the picture, MAC #316) helps a lot when it comes to apply my red lipstick of choice (#4 in the picture, MAC Red lipstick), since you really work the lip colour into the lip with the brush and the application will get more precise.
Both matte and glossy red lips are gorgeous, depending on what I feel like I top my red lipstick with a lipgloss (#5 in the picture, MAC Cult of cherry lipglass) or I stick with un-glossy red lips.
Application technique
The right application technique is pretty important when it comes to a pair of nice red lipst that stays in place during the day. This is the technique that I've found that works best for me!
These are my naked lips, with lip primer applied. They look a bit scary because they are a bit stained from the red wine I had yesterday, but don't mind that ;)
I then continue by applying the lip pencil cherry from MAC as a base over the entire lips. Some people like to start out by lining the lips and then fill them in, I like to start from the middle and work my way out since I think it's easier to get an even and accurate lip line like this.
After I've applied the lip pencil, I apply my red lipstick with a lip brush. I've chosen a lipstick that's almost the same shade as the pencil here (MAC Red), but it's really not that important that it matches exactly as long as the pencil is somewhere near the red shade of your lipstick. This lipstick is not entirely matte but has a slight gloss finish, and if you have very dry lips this kind of formula would be great for you since it moisturizes the lips a bit more than a matte one.
To define the lip contour even more, I apply some powder with a flat angled brush right outside the lip line. If you messed up and applied some lip colour outside the line that stained your skin after remoiving it, the powder works kind of like an eraser to correct this.
For a shiny look, I finish off with a red lipgloss (MAC Cult of cherry) but this step is optional, I wear my red lips glossy about as often as I wear them matte. A gloss helps with keeping your lips moisturized, though.
Tips and tricks
- Love the look of red lips, but get intimidated by all the colour? Try wearing a red lipgloss, a lip stain or a lipstick with a sheerer formula (like the lustre formula from MAC).
- Red is available in a lot of different shades, from light to dark, from cold to warm. Personally, I think that almost everybody can wear any red shade, but if you have a cold skintone, colder reds that leans towards blue will suit you more, and if you have a warm skintone, warmer reds that leans towards yellow and orange will suit you more.
- Classic red lips are gorgeous in combination with a simple, black eyeliner, but they look great with a pair of heavily smokey eyes aswell.
- Don't want to spend a lot of cash on lip pencils in different shades that matches all your lipsticks? Invest in a transparent one that works with all shades.

What does a transparent lip pencil do, or where can you get one?
Niente: it basically works as a coloured lip pencil (keeps colour from feathering and fading), but it applies clear to the lips. Too faced makes one, among others!
Oh I thought those were to be used to fill deep wrinkles that cut across the lip-line, but now I see :)

Åh, vad smidigt det lät med en ofärgad läppenna! Såg att du tipsade om Too Faced, men tänkte kolla om du vet om det finns något märke man kan köpa i butik som har? Har tillgång till typ Kicks och MUS här i stan, men skulle MAC eller nåt annat märke som finns i lite större städer ha så får det skrivas upp på listan för nästa storstadsbesök.^^

I have the same problem with red wine too. The worst part is when I drink red wine while wearing nude or light pink lips. It looks horrible!
Utrolig bra tutorial det der, jeg gjør vel mye godt likens som deg når jeg legger rød lebestift.
Bra inlägg, men en sak förvånade mig. Biter du aldrig av när du applicerar rött läppstift? Om jag kör helrött biter jag av, pudrar och re-applicerar kanske tre gånger men sen sitter det som berget.
